Chat in the Portal

Chat in the Web Soft Phone

Chat in the Mobile App

The portal allows extensions to message each other utilizing the Chat feature. SMS is not required to be set up or enabled for the internal chat to function.


Chat in the Portal

This article assumes you are logged into the Manager Portal.

If you do not know your login name or password, please click here or contact CallHarbor Support.

Send a Chat 

There are two ways to send a chat in the portal

Through the Contacts Tab

1. Select the Contacts Tab

If you are a Call Center Supervisor or higher, you may need to switch the view of the portal from the entire phone system to your extension only. To do this, click on your name in the upper right-hand corner, then select My Account

2. Locate the extension you wish to send a message to

3. Use the search bar to search for the extension if needed

4. Press the Message icon to the right of the contact row 

5. A chat option will be available. Click Chat

6. A chat window will appear

7. Type the message in the 'Send a message' text box

8. Press enter on your keyboard to send the message

Through the Messages Tab

1. Select the Messages tab

If you are a Call Center Supervisor or higher, you may need to switch the view of the portal from the entire phone system to your extension only. To do this, click on your name in the upper right-hand corner, then select My Account

2.  Switch the 'Chat and SMS' sub-tab, if SMS is not enabled for your extension, the sub-tab will be named "Chat" only

3. Click New Conversation, or click into an already created thread

If you click into a conversation, Use Reply to send a new message. Use View All to return to all conversations

4. A New Conversation window is created

5. Enter the name or extension number you wish to message

6. Add additional extensions if necessary. Press Start to start the conversation

7. The chat window will replace the Start Conversation window

8. Type the message in the 'Send a message' text box

9. Press enter on your keyboard to send the message

This is the name of the extension you are chatting with

This is the type of message being sent: Chat or SMS

This will minimize the conversation in the portal

This will close out of the conversation from being a popup in the portal

Add people to the conversation

Enter the additional extensions to add, then click Done. Cancel will disregard

Click to call

Acrobits SIPIS is the CallHarborUC app. A desk phone will appear as the model of phone, for example 'Yealink T54W'

Pressing the three dots will give two options:

  • Turn off notifications - you will not receive notifications for replies on this message thread
  • Delete conversation - delete the conversation from the portal. Deleting a conversation is permanent.

Chat in the Web Soft Phone

This article assumes you are logged into the Web Soft Phone.

Send a Chat

There are two ways to start a conversation from the Web Soft Phone

Through the Contacts Tab

1. Select the Contacts tab

2.  Locate the contact you wish to send a chat

3. Click the name of the contact to open the contact details

4. Click the message icon

5. A new conversation popup is created

6. Type the message in the 'Type a message' text box

7. Press enter on your keyboard to send the message

Through the Chat and SMS Tab

1. Select the Chat and SMS tab

2.Click New Conversation

To reply to an already created conversation, click the conversation and a popup window appears

3. Enter the name or extension number you wish to message

4. As you type a name or extension, the dropdown will update to matching extensions. You can use the dropdown to select the extension

5. Add additional extensions if necessary. Press Done to start the conversation

6. The conversation is started in a popup

7. Type the message in the 'Type a message' text box

8. Press enter on your keyboard to send the message

Click to call with the web soft phone

Video is not supported with the web soft phone. Please do not use this button

Pressing the three dots will give five options:

  • Add Participants - add additional extensions to the conversation. Enter additional extensions then press Done. Press the back arrow to cancel

  • Turn off notifications - you will not receive notifications for replies on this message thread
  • Call - calls the extension using the web soft phone
  • View Contact - shows the contact details for the extension in the contacts tab

  • Delete conversation - delete the conversation from the portal. Deleting a conversation is permanent.

This will close out of the conversation from being a popup in the web softphone

This will minimize the conversation in the web soft phone (move to back)

This will pin the window to your web soft phone. The window will be available even after a log out

This article assumes you are logged into the CallHarborUC app.

Send a Chat

Through the Contacts tab

1. Select the Contacts tab

2. Locate the contact you wish to message and press the message Icon

3. Use the search bar to search for the contact if necessary

4. The conversation window is opened

5. Type your message in the Message textbox

6. Use the plane icon to send

Through the Messages Tab

1. Select the Messages tab

2. Click the new conversation icon

If you are replying to a chat, click the message that you would like to reply to

3. Enter the extension you would like to message

4. The dropdown will filter the extension based on what is typed. To select a contact, press the + icon

5. Add additional extensions if necessary, otherwise type your message in the Message text box

6. Use the plane icon to send

This is the name of the extension you are chatting with

Return to all conversations

Pressing the three dots will give three options:

  • Edit - allows you to delete specific messages from the conversation
  • Call - calls the extension using the mobile app
  • Contact Info - displays the contact info for the extension
