Transferring Calls

Blind Transfer

A blind transfer sends the caller to the new extension without any interaction between the person transferring the call and the extension receiving the transfer.


1. Press the TRANSFER key or Transfer (Trans) during a call



2. Do one of the following:
• Enter the number or select a contact from the placed call list you want to transfer to.
• If you have set a Speed Dial key, you can also press the Speed Dial key to transfer the call to the contact directly.
• Press Directory (Dir). Select the desired contact from the Directory list.

3. Press B Transfer (B Trans) or the TRANSFER key to complete the transfer.


Note: If you are using a handset, the transfer can be completed by hanging up the handset.


Semi Attended/Attended Transfer

A semi-attended transfer is done to ensure the availability of the extension transferring to as the call is transferred upon ringing. An attended transfer allows for communication between the extensions before the transfer is completed.

1. Press the TRANSFER key or Transfer (Trans) during a call.



2. Do one of the following:
• Enter the number or select a contact from the placed call list you want to transfer the call to.
• Press Directory (Dir). Select the desired contact from the Directory list

3. Press the OK key or Call.



4. Do one of the following:
• When you hear the ringback tone, press the TRANSFER key or Transfer (Trans) to finish a semi-attended transfer
• After the contact answers the call, press the TRANSFER key or Transfer (Trans) to finish an attended transfer (consultative transfer).


Transfer a call directly to voicemail


1. Press the TRANSFER key or Transfer (Trans) during a call.



2. Press the Star Key, then enter the extension number of the voicemail you want to transfer the call to.
3. Press B Transfer (B Trans) or the TRANSFER key to complete the transfer.


Note: If you are using a handset, the transfer can be completed by hanging up the handset.

 


Example of when to use:

Blind transfer: The caller needs to speak to another extension, but is okay with leaving a voicemail if needed

Semi-attended transfer: Someone has recently been on DND, and you want to check that they are no longer in DND

Attendant transfer: You need to relay information about the caller/call before the transfer is completed
